Restoration of the overdoor above the south-western portal in the Green Drawing Room of the Nabokov museum

Abstract

Цель выпускной квалификационной работы- реставрация десюдепорта над юго-западным порталом Зеленой гостиной Дома В.В.Набокова. Десюдепорт выполнен из дерева в рокайльном стиле. В советское время десюдепорты Зеленой гостиной были закрашены несколькими слоями масляной малярной краски белого цвета. Главной задачей работы являлась расчистка десюдепорта, а также укрепление красочных слоев. Во время раскрытия живописи на поверхности центрального картуша было обнаружено большое количество утрат авторской живописи. Однако было обнаружено и несколько слоев записей разных периодов. Также на обрамлении были выявлены фрагменты золочения и бронзовой краски. За время работ была выполнена фотофиксация всех процессов реставрации.

My bachelor thesis is devoted to the restoration of the overdoor painting. The artwork belongs to the Nabokov Museum and is situated in the Green living room of the flat. The framing of the overdoor painting is made of wood in rococo style. During the Soviet period of time the whole interior of the room was painted over with several layers of white colour. The main task of my bachelor thesis is the removal of this white paint from the overdoor and local strengthening of damaged areas. During the first step of the overdoor restoration – removing of overpaint, a large number of original painting's damages has been revealed. However, several layers of extensions from different time periods have also been found. In addition, it has been discovered, that the parts of the original frame of the overdoor were covered with gold and bronze paint. The photographic fixation is done during the whole process of overdoor restoration.
