Early Medieval Geography of Armenia and the Southern Caucasus countries

Abstract

In this monograph, early medieval geography of countries of the Armenian Highland’s (Greater Armenia, Minor Armenia) and the Southern Caucasus (Albania, Iberia, Lazika) was comprehensively investigated for the first time in historical and oriental studies on the basis of multilingual written monuments of early Middle Ages, as well as a number of researches by domestic and foreign authors. In the work, issues of political, cultural, social and economic geography of these countries from the end of the 4th – the beginning of the 10th centuries were studied in detail in the broader context of history and geography of the great states of the Middle East – the Byzantine Empire, Sasanian Iran and Arab Caliphate. The book is intended for historians and orientalists, as well as all those who are interested in early medieval history and geography of the Anterior Asia.
