Comparative analysis of entrepreneurial intentions among students: evidence from GUESSS project

Abstract

The current master thesis is dedicated to the developing research field on student entrepreneurship and studies factors influencing entrepreneurial attitude formation among students from two different contexts: efficiency- and innovation-driven economies. The relevance of the research is connected with the conceptualization and systematization of the studied phenomena of graduate entrepreneurial intentions as one of most effective lever of entrepreneurship activity development. The results of GUESSS project involving 26 universities allowed to test research hypotheses comparing entrepreneurial intention, attitudes and factors, influencing attitude’ formation among student from two groups. The hypotheses accepted suggest that there is a positive relationship between contextual, personal factors and entrepreneurial attitude – significant predictor of entrepreneurial intention. The results revealed higher entrepreneurial intentions and more positive entrepreneurial attitude among students from emerging economies. Theoretical implications of our study relate to the development a new model applicable in two different contexts for measuring entrepreneurial attitude. Practical recommendations would allow teachers, policy makers correct programs and redirects efforts in attempt to get higher desirability of entrepreneurial career in certain context.
