Cross-cultural differences influence analysis on corruption level reduction using experimental gaming

Abstract

The thesis is dedicated to the ways corruption level may be reduced. It researches how culture may help reducing corruption level. It develops a methodology of evaluating the corruption level and cultural influence on importance of the factors, determining corruption. The thesis represents itself an example of applying this methodology by providing game-theoretic model of bribery and then by gaming the model. Experimental gaming gives an opportunity to observe how specific culture influences the importance of the factor in determining corruption level. Apart from demonstrating and improving the methodology, practical examples concerning ways to reduce corruption level and expected bribery sizes were provided after the playing of the experiments. The results of the research may be used by policy-makers in shaping anticorruption reforms, by multinationals in better evaluating country risks connected with corruption and selecting the representative of the company, and by researchers in further understanding of notion corruption, factors influencing corruption and ways to reduce corruption level.
