Transformation of the automobile culture in Russia: The case of St. Petersburg

Abstract

Эта работа посвящена изучению трансформации автомобильной культуры в России. Поскольку за последние три десятилетия существенным образом изменился состав автомобильного сообщества, условия жизни граждан, качество инфраструктуры, можно говорить о том, что сегодняшняя автомобильная культура сильно отличается от той, что существовала в 1990-е и 2000-е. Рассмотрение практик взаимодействия автомобилистов, их отношения с с пешеходами, инфраструктурой, исполнительными органами и другими институциями покажет логику трансформации автомобильной культуры.

This paper is devoted to studying of transformation of automobile culture in Russia. As for the last three decades the structure of automobile community, living conditions of citizens, quality of infrastructure has essentially changed, it is possible to say that today's automobile culture strongly differs from that that existed in the 1990th and 2000th. Consideration the practician of interaction of drivers, their relations with with pedestrians, infrastructure, executive bodies and other institutions will show the logic of transformation of automobile culture.
