Abstract
The subject of this study is the ways of comparing the ideological and artistic content of a literary work with the content of its adaptation in cinema, as well as the film adaptation as a source of new meanings for the text of the adapted novel based on the material of the novel by A. Aciman "Call Me by Your Name" and the film of the same name directed by L. Guadagnino. Interest in this aspect is caused by the relevance of research in the field of film adaptation theory in general, and the increased popularity of the novel by A. Aciman after the film adaptation of his work by L. Guadagnino. There is considerable ambiguity in the critical assessment of the film under study regarding its literary basis. Our research is designed to conduct a comparative analysis of the most significant aspects of the two works, taking into account the opinions of film critics and literary critics, and to determine whether the content and style of the film adaptation corresponds to the novel. The work consists of an introduction, two chapters, a conclusion and an appendix. The first chapter briefly outlines the context – literary and cinematic-in which the novel and its film adaptation appeared. In addition, attention is paid to the genesis of young adult literature and the representation of LGBT characters in books of this direction, and the main concepts that are central to this work, such as film text, film discourse, intermediality and film adaptation, are clarified. The second chapter provides a comparative analysis of the novel and its film adaptation from the point of view of preserving the ideological content, stylistic design, as well as changes in the content and style plans. In conclusion, some of the results of our research are summarized. The appendix contains 10 tables with the data of the intermediate phrases of the book and the movie used for the analysis in the second chapter.
