The phenomenon of tragicomedy in the works of Georgiy Daneliya as illustrated by "Autumn Marathon" and "Mimino"

Abstract

Данная дипломная работа посвящена исследованию и анализу жанра трагикомедии, в особенности, его использованию и преобразованию в творчестве советского режиссера Георгия Данелии. Исследование проводится на основе фильмов режиссера, с упором на две его работы: «Осенний марафон» (1979) и «Мимино» (1977). Теоретико-методологическую основу для данного исследования составили работы Э. Бентли, И.А. Рацкова, Б.О. Костелянца, С.В. Владимирова. Автор стремится проанализировать феномен трагикомедии в творчестве Г. Данелии, в том числе определить степень реализации жанра и провести классификацию фильмов по двум типам трагикомедии, выявленным Э. Бентли. В первой главе дипломной работы разбираются главные структурные характеристики жанра, его основные мотивы и герои. Кроме того, проводится классификация работ режиссера по принадлежности к исследуемому жанру. Во второй главе рассматривается взаимодействие режиссера со спецификой жанрового строя грузинского кино и проводится анализ фильма «Мимино». В третьей главе рассматриваются принципы драматургии А. Володина и анализируется взаимодействие двух художественных систем на примере фильма «Осенний марафон».The graduation work is devoted to the research and the analysis of tragicomedy, more specifically, its use and transformation in the works of the soviet director Georgiy Daneliya. The research is based on his films, with close attention to his two works: “Autumn Marathon” (1979) and “Mimino” (1977). The theoretical and methodological basis for the analysis were the works of E. Bentley, I.A. Ratskov, B.O. Kostelyanets, S.V. Vladimirov. In this work the author aims to analyze the phenomenon of tragicomedy in the works of G. Daneliya, including the determination of implementation’s degree in them and their classification by the two types of tragicomedy identified by E. Bentley. The first chapter of the graduation work will be devoted to the analysis of the characters, motives and structural characteristics of the genre. Moreover, the classification of Daneliya’s works by belonging to the studied genre will be carried out. The second chapter will include the topic of the director’s interaction with the national specifics of Georgian tragicomedy and the analysis of “Mimino”. The third chapter will be devoted to the analysis of Alexander Volodin’s writing characteristics and his collaboration with Daneliya in “Autumn Marathon”.
