Abstract
The study of this graduation thesis is devoted to the research of the problem of expressing the author's subjectivity on the material of news and analytical articles of the Portuguese press, as well as the problem of language manipulation as a journalistic strategy. The first chapter examines concepts such as discourse and its structure in the print media, as well as a set of manipulative techniques that determine the journalistic language strategy. In the second chapter, a comprehensive analysis of news and analytical articles of large-circulation Portuguese newspapers Diário de Noticias, Público, Jornal de Notícias and Expresso was carried out for the presence of language manipulations. The analysis was carried out at all levels of the text - lexical, syntactic and pragmatic. The author's subjectivity is expressed through the use of such linguistic means as lexical (affective words, antithesis, metaphor, personification, metonymy, euphemia, paradox, narrative intimization technique, phraseological units and fixed expressions), syntactic (quoting, rhetorical question, inversion, gradation, antithesis, anaphora, parallel construction, ellipsis), logical-rhetorical (intertextuality, anglicisms, irony).
