Sasha Sokolov's novel "A school for fools": Montage poetics

Abstract

Работа посвящена изучению специфики монтажной композиции романа Саши Соколова «Школа для дураков», одного из ключевых текстов русского постмодернизма. Фокус исследования направлен на выявление того, каким образом в романе достигается характерный для постмодернисткой литературы в целом монтажный эффект и какие типы материала его создают. В результате выделены и описаны две группы гетерогенных по своей природе фрагментов, формирующих монтажные стыки. В заключение предложена интерпретация функций данных фрагментов в романе и определены возможные перспективы исследования.The paper is devoted to the montage composition peculiarities of the novel “A School for Fools” by Sasha Sokolov. It is one of the key texts of the Russian postmodernism. The research is focused on the ways how the montage effect is produced in the novel and which material types create this effect. As a result, two kinds of heterogeneous fragments are described that construct montage joints within the text. The analysis permits to propose the interpretation of the functions of these fragments in the novel and to define possible directions of the future studies.
