The role of social networks in countering the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic: a study of the political elite in St.Petersburg and Madrid

Данная работа посвящена исследованию роли социальных сетей политиков в противодействии распространению пандемии COVID-19. Ведущим методом для достижения поставленной цели является метод контент-анализа, который позволяет выявить влияние социальных сетей политиков в противодействии распространению пандемии COVID-19 в течение двух лет (1.03.20-1.03.22) путем изучения опубликованного материала в «Вконтакте» и «Твиттере». Также в работе были использованы методы теоретического и сравнительного анализа. В результате были изучены активность и контент санкт-петербургских и мадридских политиков в социальных сетях, исследована роль их аккаунтов в противодействии распространению пандемии COVID-19, а также проведен сравнительный анализ между двумя городскими элитами.This work is devoted to the study of the role of social networks of politicians in countering the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The leading method for achieving the goal is the content analysis method, which allows to identify the influence of social networks of politicians in countering the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic for two years (1.03.20-1.03.22) by studying the published material in «Vkontakte» and «Twitter». The methods of theoretical and comparative analysis were also used in the work. As a result, the activity and content of St. Petersburg and Madrid politicians in social networks were studied, the role of their accounts in countering the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic was investigated and a comparative analysis was conducted between the two urban elites.
