The influence of the board of directors' structure on a company effectiveness: The international comparative analysis

Abstract

This master thesis work conducts comparative research on structure of the Board of directors of enterprises in Russia, Malaysia, Germany and France (since they belong to similar model of corporate governance). It constructs the models on the relationships between structure of the Board of Directors and financial indicators (Tobin's Q). Research studies the relationship between the Characteristics of Boards, including the size of Board, structure of Board, directors’ shareholding, women and government presence and the company’s financial performance by descriptive statistics method and regression analysis. Results show existence of common tendencies in presented countries which with further research will allow creating international recommendations for Board composition.
