Abstract
In my graduation work “Linguistic peculiarities of Trabzon subdialect of Pontic” I have described dialectal variation of immigrants from Pontus, living on the territory of the small village in Georgia approximately 250 years ago. Their ancestors had to leave their homeland in Trabzon. The main objective of the work is to compare and, in some cases, to explain linguistic peculiarities between the Pontic dialect and the modern Greek language. Special attention is paid to the long history of the emergence and formation of the Pontic dialect, its interaction with other languages including Greek over different time horizons. To undertake the study the authentic texts in audio format were used. All the texts were glossed. Through the gloss I managed to find out linguistic peculiarities between the Pontic dialect and the modern Greek. In conclusion I emphasized two points: the value of learning the Pontic dialect as a cultural monument 3000 -year history that has survived to our day and its preserving for the people, who continue to speak this dialect.
