Abstract
The final qualifying work on the topic: “Ethnic tolerance/intolerance in russian self-consciousness” analyzes the theoretical aspects of the concept of ethnic tolerance, the origins of this phenomenon, as well as the place it occupies in the structure of ethnic self-consciousness. Along with ethnic tolerance, the work also defines such basic categories of ethnosociology as ethnicity, ethnic identity and interethnic relations. Without defining the relationship of these concepts, as well as the influence that they can have on each other in a multicultural world, it is impossible to understand the emergence of ethnic tolerance in modern society. The relevance of the study is associated with the continuous increase in economic, social, and cultural integration between representatives of ethnic groups. When members of ethnic groups come into direct contact, problems often arise related to communication, respect for another ethnic group, its recognition and the setting of ethnic boundaries. To identify interaction strategies that allow ethnic groups to coexist peacefully together, it is important to identify the level of ethnic tolerance. Thus, in the empirical part of the work, an attempt was made to investigate the peculiarities of the formation of ethnic tolerance among young people of Russian nationality.
