Political aspects of Russian-Iranian military-technical cooperation: problems and prospects

Abstract

Данное исследование рассматривает актуальные вопросы состояния и перспектив военно-технического сотрудничества (ВТС) Российской Федерации с Исламской Республикой Иран. Целью работы является изучение влияния политических аспектов на военно-техническую сферу между Россией и Ираном. В ходе исследования был проведен анализ состояния военно-промышленного комплекса и вооруженных сил Ирана. Также были изучены особенности ВТС России и Ирана. В частности, были обозначены интересы сторон, существующие препятствия и основные направления сотрудничества. Наконец, были спрогнозированы возможные варианты развития этого процесса в контексте внешней политики Российской Федерации.The research focuses on topical issues of state and prospects of Russian military-technical cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The objective of this research work is researching influence of political aspects on the military – technical field between Russia and Iran. During the research there was given an analysis of the condition of the military-industrial complex and the Armed Forces of Iran. The specificities of military-technical cooperation between Russia and Iran have been studied as well. In particular, the interests of the parties, the existing obstacles and the main directions of cooperation have been identified. Finally, the possible prospects of development of this process in the context of Russian foreign policy have been predicted.
