Abstract

The article deals with the activities of the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan from its clandestine activities in the Soviet period up to 2015. The questions about its membership in Islamist religious organizations, its purely regional orientation and the reasons for stagnation at the beginning of the 21st century and the final defeat and a ban on legitimate political activities in 2015 are based on the data of the Central state archive of the Republic of Tajikistan and materials in Russian and Tajik periodicals.
