Abstract

The Republic of Macedonia is, probably, the most politically stable post-Yugoslavian state, but it is has attracted the attention of experts because of its difficult foreign relations and because of its Albanian community which is concentrated in the west part of the country. The article is devoted to national security of the Republic of Macedonia, focusing on the issue of ethnic interaction in the country and a discussion about the threat to the existence of the Macedonian state, which still hasn’t been recognized under its constitutional name because the of the dispute between Skopje and Athens. The chronological scope of the work is the period between 1991 and 2015. Refs 29.
