Abstract
The analysis of the dynamics of the characteristics of stratospheric warmings in the Northern Hemisphere from 1980 to 2020 is carried out. In most cases, stratospheric warmings were observed over the Asia-Pacific region in the polar region. In general, for the entire period from 1980 to 2020, there was a steady increasing linear trend in temperature in the stratosphere during warmings, also from the mid-90s. the intensity and spatial scale of sudden stratospheric warming (SSW) increased, which can be traced especially clearly by the reduction in the area of the polar vortex in winter and the most powerful warmings in the period under review in 2009 and 2018.
