Transformation of the sense of shame in the history of European culture in Antiquity and the Middle Ages

Abstract

Основной целью моей работы будет рассмотрения простых и исторических форм проявления стыда в истории культуры период Античности и Средневековья. Я постараюсь разобрать феномен стыда с антропологической точки зрения на основе культурных источников тех времен и современных авторах, которые занимаются исследованием феномена стыда. Основной задачей будет исследовать то, как человек понимал стыд во времена Античности и Средневековья, что было причиной стыда, в каких условиях люди испытывали данное чувство. Нашим главным объектом исследования будет сам человек, тот, кто обладает данным чувством. На основе культурных источников каждой эпохи, мы постараемся ответить на вопрос что такое человек, который стыдится, как трансформировалось чувство стыда в конкретной исторической эпохе, а именно в культуре истории Античности и Средневековья.

The main purpose of my work will be to examine the simple and historical forms of manifestation of shame in the history of culture during the period of Antiquity and the Middle Ages. I will try to disassemble the phenomenon of shame from an anthropological point of view on the basis of cultural sources of those times and contemporary authors who are studying the phenomenon of shame. The main task will be to investigate how a person understood shame in the days of Antiquity and the Middle Ages, what was the cause of shame, under what conditions experienced this feeling. Our main object of study will be the person himself, the one who possesses this feeling. On the basis of the cultural origins of each epoch, we will try to answer the question, what is a person who is ashamed, how was the sense of shame transformed in a concrete historical epoch, namely, in the culture of the history of Antiquity and the Middle Ages.
