Lexical and stylistic devices in Kurt Vonnegut's works in the aspect of translation

Abstract

В исследовании рассматривается актуальная проблема передачи лексико-стилистических характеристик художественного произведения при переводе на русский язык. Целью работы выступает комплексный анализ особенностей идиостиля К. Воннегута и описание способов их репрезентации в переводе. Основное содержание исследования составляет сопоставительный анализ оригинального и переводного текста романа «Бойня номер пять, или Крестовый поход детей». В результате исследования выявлены виды переводческих трансформаций, используемых для передачи лексико-стилистических характеристик романа. Работа имеет междисциплинарный характер, написана на стыке переводоведения и стилистики.

The present paper focuses on an ongoing issue of transferring the lexical and stylistic devices used in a literary text when translating into Russian. In the paper, a comprehensive analysis of the features of K. Vonnegut’s individual style is given and the ways of their representation in translation are described. Much attention is given to a comparative analysis of the source and target texts of the novel "Slaughterhouse-Five, or The Children’s Crusade." As a result of the research conducted, the types of translation shifts that were used to convey the lexical and stylistic devices of the novel are revealed. The work is interdisciplinary in nature, it is written at the junction of translation studies and stylistics.
