The estimation of the snow height spatial and statistical structure for the avalanche risk assessment: a case study of the Khibiny mountains

Даны оценки параметров пространственной статистической структуры высоты снежного покрова на однородных участках склонов с характерным линейным размером 50–100 м. Их знание необходимо для вероятностного прогноза схода лавин на основе моделей механической устойчивости снежного покрова на склоне. Знание пространственно-статистической структуры высоты снежного покрова также позволяет рационально разместить снегомерную сеть в лавинных очагах.

Estimates are given for the parameters of the spatial statistical structure of the snowpack depth on homogeneous sections of slopes with a characteristic linear size of 50–100 m. Knowing them is necessary for probabilistic prediction of the avalanche releases based on models of the mechanical stability of snowpack on a slope. Knowledge of the spatial statistical structure of the snowpack depth also makes it possible to rationally place the snow- measuring network in the avalanche starting zones.
