Photo Documentation as a Representation Tool of Unofficial Art. A Case Study of the Photo archives of Leningrad Art-groups of the 1970s-1990s.

Abstract

Данная выпускная квалификационная работа является первой попыткой обозначить, используемый повсеместно термин “фотодокументация”, применительно к искусствоведению и художественной критике, а также систематизировать и таким образом “архивировать” имена и творчество ленинградских фотографов. Автор считает, что процесс фотодокументации, включавший в себя разные подвиды съемки от любительских и случайных, до профессиональных и являющихся частью художественной практики, оказал влияние не только на развитие неофициальной культуры и искусства в период 1970-1990-х годов, но и занимает ключевое место в процессе репрезентации искусства и культуры в ретроспективном ключе перед современным зрителем.

This master's thesis is the first attempt to designate the commonly used term "photodocumentation", in relation to art history and art criticism, as well as to systematize and thus "archive" the names and work of Leningrad photographers. The author believes that the process of photographic documentation, which included various types of photography from amateur and casual to professional and part of artistic practice, had an impact not only on the development of unofficial culture and art in the period of the 1970-1990s, but also occupies a key place in the process of representing art and culture in a retrospective manner in front of a modern audience.
