Honorary inscriptions (tituli honorarii) in the Roman Empire: Their features and problems of study

Abstract

Выпускная квалификационная работа посвящена изучению почётных надписей времён Римской империи. Цель данного исследования состоит в установлении особенностей и анализе проблем интерпретации почётных надписей. В первой главе рассматривается проблема выделения почётных надписей в отдельный класс, правомерность их отделения от первых почётных надписей, элогий, а также отмечается характерная для них структура. Во второй главе приводится ряд почётных надписей, происходящих из разных мест и датирующихся разными годами. Для того, чтобы более комплексно рассмотреть почётные надписи с точки зрения их структуры и особенностей, в работе анализируются почётные надписи как мужчинам, так и женщинам. Все надписи было переведены и подробно разобраны, были отмечены заслуги, за которые чествовали людей, а также отмечены места, которые нельзя определённо перевести, только выдвигать предположения, что может быть полезным при дальнейшем изучении почётных надписей. Подведены итоги работы и сформулированы выводы. Работа включает 65 страниц текста и 70 источников использованной литературы.

A thesis is devoted to the study of Roman honorary inscriptions. The purpose of this study is to establish the peculiarities of honorary inscriptions and analyse the problems of their interpretation. The first chapter describes the problem of classifying honorary inscriptions as a separate type, the legality of distinguishing them from the earlier honorary inscriptions, elogia, and their typical structure. The second chapter presents a number of honorary inscriptions originating from different places and dating back to different years. In order to take a more comprehensive look at the honorary inscriptions in terms of their structure and features, the work analyses the honorary inscriptions of both men and women. All the inscriptions have been translated and analysed in detail, the merits of honored people have been noted, as well as the places that cannot be translated definitively and only speculations can be made. It may be useful in the further study of the inscriptions. The results of the study are presented and conclusions are formulated. The paper consists of 65 pages of text and 70 references.
