The Korean diaspora in the USA in 1910 - 1940s: A study of publications in the Sinhan Minbo newspaper

Abstract

Объем выпускной квалификационной работы составляет 57 страниц, на которых были размещены 7 фотоматериалов. При написании диплома автором использовались 3 источника на корейском языке, включая устав Ассоциации корейских граждан, 16 статей из газеты «Синхан минбо», справочные материалы по истории зарубежных соотечественников в США 1910 – 1940-х гг., 11 научных статьей, написанных корейскими исследователями по данной теме, 4 англоязычные работы и один труд общеописательного характера на русском языке. Объект исследования настоящей работы - история корейской диаспоры в США в 1910 – 1940-х гг. Предмет исследования – деятельность корейской диаспоры в США в 1910 – 1940-х гг., отраженная на страницах газеты «Синхан минбо». Выпускная квалификационная работа состоит из введения, двух глав и заключения. Во введении раскрывается актуальность настоящей работы, ставятся цель и задачи, определяется объект и предмет научного исследования, приводится описание источников, материалов и литературы, использованной в процессе написания выпускной квалификационной работы, указывается методологическая основа выполненного исследования. Первая глава посвящена истории формирования Ассоциации корейских граждан и рассмотрению устава организации. Во второй главе работы рассматривается движение за образование и взращивание квалифицированных кадров в 1910 – 1940-х гг., как одно из приоритетных направлений неполитической деятельности корейской общины на территории США. Заключение посвящено основным выводам, сделанным в ходе выпускной квалификационной работы.

The final qualification paper consists of 57 pages, on which 7 photographic materials were placed. While composing the diploma, the author used 3 sources in Korean, including the charter of the Korean National Assembly, 16 articles from the newspaper "Sinhan Minbo", the chronological tables of overseas Korean’s history in the USA in the 1910s – 1940s, 11 scientific articles written by Korean researchers on the mentioned above topic, 4 English-language articles and one general descriptive work in Russian. The object of the research is the history of the Korean diaspora in the United States in the 1910s - 1940s. The subject of the study is the reflected in the newspaper "Sinhan Minbo" activities of the Korean diaspora in the United States in the 1910s – 1940s. The final qualification work consists of an introduction, two chapters and a conclusion. The introduction reveals the relevance of this work, sets the goal and objectives, defines the object and subject of the scientific research, provides a description of the sources, materials and literature used in the process of writing, indicates the methodological basis of the research performed. The first chapter is devoted to the history of the formation of the Korean National Assembly and examination of the charter of the organization. The second chapter of diploma is dedicated to the movement for education and the cultivation of qualified personnel in the 1910s – 1940s, as it was considered as one of the priorities of the non-political activities of the Korean community in the United States in the above period. The conclusion is devoted to the main findings made during the performed research.
