Abstract

Меня зовут Беляева Ксения и я художник- постановщик. Сегодня я представляю свою дипломную работу по произведению «13 сказка» Дианы Сеттерфилд, которая состоит из 15 киноэскизов и 56 экспликаций, чертежей декораций. Основная идея произведения, по моему мнению, заключается в становлении личности героини, в ее неразрывной связи с историей, частью которой она является. Понимание себя ценной единицей - личностью, помогает человеку обрести себя, избавившись от гнетущего чувства одиночества. Эта тема кажется мне актуальной, и произведение является очень ярким и кинематографичным, насыщенным деталями и фактурами, что очень важно для художника кино. Основная концепция и выбранное мной визуальное решение состоит в том, что действия фильма происходят в ограниченном пространстве - главная локация - особняк сам по себе является отдельным живым героем, дышащим, меняющимся с течением времени, наполненным фактурами. Старинный особняк, населенный призраками прошлого - отражение внутреннего мира его жителей, в особенности главной героини. Я показываю его в различных состояниях - упадке и расцвете, мы видим его с разных ракурсов и в разное время. Но основным конечно является его состояние в воспоминаниях главной героини-писательницы. Будучи маленькой девочкой, она была самым главным призраком этого дома, незаконнорожденная дочь, прячущаяся в тени. Для неё дом словно лабиринт с потайными ходами, именно поэтому визуально я стараюсь ломать пространства, накладывать их друг на друга, выбирать ломанные ракурсы, игру света и теней - создавая эффект подглядывания. И конечно множество деталей, для ощущения живости дома. Все эскизы лишены изображения героев, в них важно ощущение присутствия, так же и эскизы со взглядом на уже разрушенный дом в настоящем: руины не безжизненны, история продолжает жить с главной героиней. И когда она осознаёт себя цельной личностью, она пишет свою историю. Это даёт возможность героям живущим в стенах дома продолжать жить на страницах истории. Точно так же как и дом взглядом девочки, сюжет книги является лабиринтном, где все взаимосвязано. И моя развеска эскизов, намеренно вытянутых, разного формата, складывающихся в одно целое, является так же одним из художественных приемов. Человек, так же как и героиня моего фильма, связан неосязаемыми нитями с прошлым и будущим. Это даёт осознание того, что ты не одинок, потому что ты есть часть большой, а самое главное, своей собственной истории. Я верю, что мои изобразительные решения подчеркивают мою основную идею.

Dear guests, Good afternoon! My name is Ksenia Belyaeva. I’m a production designer. Today I’m going to acquaint you with my graduate work on “The Thirteenth Tale” by Diane Setterfield which contains fifteen cinema sketches and fifty six explications, drawings and decoration sets. The main idea of this work in my opinion shows how the heroine matures as the storyline progresses. To realize her own personal value helps her to find herself and come over the depressive feeling of being left alone. This theme seems to be actual today. And the work is cinematically very bright and rich in details and living texture. It’s extremely precious for a film artist. The main concept and the visual perspective I have chosen are going to limit the action space. The center location is a mansion and it takes a separate part as a character of the play. It seems to breathe in and out with the time passing, getting changed, getting filled with different textures. The old fashioned mansion haunted with ghosts from long ago past reflects the inner world of its inhabitants as a whole and the main heroine in particular. I depict it in different states in decline and glory. It’s observed from various angles at different times. Yet its basic state in the heroine’s recollections, the recollections of the writer, is the ground. In her childhood she was the main ghost of the house since she was an illegitimate offspring and had to find the shelter in the shadows. She takes the house as a labyrinth full of hidden doors. That’s why I’m trying to break all the visual spaces, reconcile, combine and juxtapose them, choose broken views, light reflections and the play of light and shade. The effect of peeking through is created. I use details to make you feel the house is alive. All the drawings come with no pictures of characters. For me it’s more important to make you feel they are present as if you are looking at the destroyed house through the prism of the now. The ruins are still alive and the story is going on closely with the main heroine. And when she realizes she has matured she finds spirit and power to start the story. It lets the story heroes exist in the house space throughout the whole story. The story plot just like the house itself is a real labyrinth where things are connected. I used one of the art approaches to place drawings in a special order and to expose them in a special way. They are purposely elongated and come in different formats to make you take it as the one thing. A person like the heroine of my movie is connected with the past and the future through the subtle matter threads. It helps to recognize you are not alone because you are still a part of a bigger story, a part of your own story. I believe my way of graphic speaking underlines my supreme idea.
