Costume design project for a film based on the novel "Mysteries" by Knut Hamsun

Abstract

Данный дипломный проект является серией эскизов к кинофильму по произведению Кнута Гамсуна "Мистерии". В эскизах разработаны костюмы персонажей романа. 16 эскизов представляют наиболее выразительные и важные сцены из романа "Мистерии". Диплом выполнен на основе текста произведения, изобразительных материалов и литературы о истории костюма 1890-х годов 19 века. В своих работах я старалась выразить противопоставление внутреннего и внешнего мира главного героя - Юхана Нагеля, а также различие между главным героем и обществом маленького норвежского провинциального города, в котором происходят события романа. Образ главного героя привлекает взгляд тем, что его неизменный желтый костюм создает контраст между ним и остальными персонажами романа. По ходу развития сюжета цвет костюма становится все более насыщенным, что образует все большую разницу и диссонанс.

The graduation project is a series of costumes sketches for the film based on the work of Knut Hamsun "Mysteries". There are 16 sketches of costumes designed for the most expressive and important scenes from the novel. The project is based on the text, visual references and literature about costume history of the 1890s of the 19th century. The idea of the sketches is the opposition of the inner and outer world of the protagonist - Johan Nagel and the difference between the protagonist and community of a small provincial Norvegian town. The image of the main character catches the eye in his yellow suit and creates a constant contrast between him and the other characters of the novel. As the story unfolds the costumes colour becomes more saturated, making the difference and dissonance more visible.
