Translation of culture-bound elements of the novel ‘Crime and Punishment’ by F. Dostoevsky into Polish and Croatian

Abstract

Данная выпускная квалификационная работа посвящена исследованию переводов произведения «Преступление и наказание» Ф. М. Достоевского на польский и хорватский языки. В первой части дается обзор истории межславянского перевода и комментируется культурная ситуация в исследуемых странах. Во второй части осуществляется анализ подходов к проблеме передачи реалий при осуществлении межславянского перевода на фоне произведений Ф. М. Достоевского и уточняются принципы классификации приемов передачи реалий. Заключительная часть работы посвящена сопоставительному анализу приемов передачи русских реалий произведений Ф. М. Достоевского, использованных польским и хорватским переводчиками и изучению факторов, влияющих на выбор конкретного приема в контексте.

This final qualifying work is devoted to the study of translations of the work "Crime and Punishment" by F. M. Dostoevsky into Polish and Croatian. The first part provides an overview of the history of inter-Slavic translation and comments on the cultural background in the studied countries. The second part analyzes the approaches to the problem of the translation of cultural-bound elements in the implementation of inter-Slavic translation against the background of the works of F. M. Dostoevsky and clarifies the principles of classification of methods of the translation of cultural-bound elements. The final part of the work is devoted to a comparative analysis of the methods of transferring the Russian cultural-bound elements of the works of F.M.Dostoevsky, used by the Polish and Croatian translators, and the study of factors influencing the choice of a particular method in the context.
