Organ Choral Treatment in Northern Germany (1500-1650)

Abstract

В данной квалификационной работе рассматриваются вопросы специфики жанра органной хоральной обработки в Северной Германии в XVI–первой половине XVII века. Целью работы стало выявление основных характерных форм и видов этого жанра, а также систематизация их признаков. Жанр органной хоральной обработки изучается в историческом и богослужебном контексте. В первой части работы рассмотрены немногочисленные письменные свидетельства органной музыки XVI столетия, а также повлиявшие на формирование жанра факторы. Во второй части работы жанр органной хоральной обработки представлен произведениями таких композиторов как Иоганн Штеффенс, Иеронимус Преториус, Михаэль Преториус, Якоб Преториус, Мельхиор Шильд, Генрих Шайдеман, Дельфин Штрунк и Николаус Хассе. В заключении автор приходит к выводу о невозможности создания универсальной схемы форм и видов органной хоральной обработки, из-за уникальности каждого отдельного сочинения, что и является главной характеристикой этого жанра в Северной Германии XVI – первой половине XVII столетия. В нотном приложении приводятся примеры, наиболее ярко демонстрирующие специфические черты северо-немецкого органного стиля.

This qualifying paper deals with the specifics of the genre of organ chorale settings in the Northern Germany in the 16th – first half of the 17th century. The aim of the work was to identify the main characteristic forms and types of this genre, as well as the systematization of their features. The genre of organ chorale settings is studied in historical and liturgical context. In the first part of the work, the author examines the few survived written evidence of the organ music of the XVI century, and the factors that influenced the formation of the genre. In the second part of the work, the genre of organ chorale settings is represented by the works of such composers as Johann Steffens, Hieronymus Praetorius, Michael Praetorius, Jacob Praetorius, Melchior Schild, Heinrich Scheidemann, Delfin Strunk and Nikolaus Hasse. In the conclusion, the author comes to the idea that it is impossible to create a universal scheme of forms and types of the organ chorale settings, due to the uniqueness of each individual composition, which is the main characteristic of this genre in the Northern Germany in 1500-1650. The music supplement contains any note-examples that most clearly demonstrate the specific features of the North German organ style.
