Social factors shaping the image of Russia in the perceptions of Japanese students

Abstract

Выпускная работа студента магистратуры факультета социологии, направления «социология политики и международных отношений», Гуленок Полины, на тему «Социальные факторы формирования образа России в представлениях японских студентов». Актуальность исследования обусловлена следующими обстоятельствами. Во-первых, образ страны в настоящее время является важным элементом международных отношений. Во-вторых, особенно значимо понимание того, как образ отражается в сознании жителей Японии в настоящий момент, когда российско-японские отношения носят сложный характер. В-третьих, актуальны исследования представлений студенчества как социально активной группы, формирующей костяк будущей политической силы Японии. Целью исследования является выявление социальных факторов, оказывающих влияние на формирование образа России в представлениях японской молодежи, а также составляющих этого образа. В ходе исследования были поставлены и решены следующие научно-исследовательские задачи: выявление историко-социологического контекста формирования образа России в Японии; выявление основных факторов формирования образа России в представлениях японских студентов; установление особенностей влияния на образ России социального содержания японской литературы (на примере ряда произведений XVIII, XIX и XX века); выяснение направлений влияния массовой культуры на формирование образа России в Японии на основе проведения контент аналитического исследования японских аниме и манга; выяснение особенностей влияния японских СМИ на формирования образа России на примере крупных новостных порталов Японии Yahoo! Japan Corporation и Асахи Симбун; проведение эмпирического исследования по выявлению элементов образов страны в представлениях респондентов, включая разработку инструментария и анализ результатов. Для раскрытия темы магистерской диссертации осуществлены как теоретические, так и эмпирические исследования. В качестве эмпирической основы работы выступают материалы японской прессы электронных периодических изданий, ряд японских произведений элитарной и массовой культуры ― литературные произведения, а также аниме и манга, данные эмпирических исследований, проведенных автором диссертации: пилотажного, осуществленного в 2016 г. в японском университете Иватэ (префектура Иватэ, город Мориока): «Интерес японской молодежи к русской литературе», и основного, проведенного в 2018-2019 годах при написании диссертации: «Образ России в представлениях японских студентов».

Graduation work of a graduate student at the Faculty of Sociology, the direction “Sociology of Politics and International Relations”, Gulenok Polina, on the topic “Social factors forming the image of Russia in the views of Japanese students”. The relevance of the study due to the following circumstances. Firstly, the image of the country is now an important element of international relations. Secondly, the understanding of how the image is reflected in the minds of Japanese people at the moment, when Russian-Japanese relations are complex, is particularly significant. Thirdly, studies of the ideas of students as a socially active group forming the backbone of the future political power of Japan are relevant. The aim of the study is to identify social factors that influence the formation of the image of Russia in the views of Japanese youth, as well as the components of this image. In the course of the study, the following research tasks were set and solved: identification of the historical and sociological context of the formation of the image of Russia in Japan; identifying the main factors shaping the image of Russia in the views of Japanese students; the establishment of peculiarities of influence on the image of Russia of the social content of Japanese literature (using the example of a number of works of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries); elucidation of the directions of the influence of mass culture on the formation of the image of Russia in Japan based on the content of an analytical study of Japanese anime and manga; elucidation of the peculiarities of the influence of Japanese media on the formation of the image of Russia on the example of Japan’s major news portals Yahoo! Japan Corporation and Asahi Shimbun; conducting an empirical study to identify the elements of a country's images in the respondents' perceptions, including the development of tools and analysis of results. For the disclosure of the topic of master's thesis carried out both theoretical and empirical research. The empirical basis of the work is the materials of the Japanese press of electronic periodicals, a number of Japanese works of elite and mass culture - literary works, as well as anime and manga, the data of empirical studies conducted by the author of the thesis: piloting, carried out in 2016 at Japanese Iwate University ( Iwate Prefecture, Morioka City) and the main one held in 2018–2019.
