The European Union in addressing the European ethno-political conflicts: Challenges and prospects

Abstract

Диссертационная работа посвящена исследованию феномена этнополитических конфликтов в Европейском союзе на современном этапе на примере Страны Басков, Каталонии, Фландрии и Валлонии, Шотландии. В исследовании проводится анализ подходов решения этнополитических конфликтов, применяемых в рамках ЕС. Цель в рамках данной магистерской работы заключается в определении существующих проблем и перспектив решения Европейским союзом этнополитических конфликтов. В ходе исследования был проведен анализ основных понятий, связанных с явлением этнополитического конфликта, выделены характерные черты этнополитических конфликтов в указанных регионах, дана оценка влияния институтов ЕС на этнополитический национализм в регионах,определены современные проблемы ЕС в решении этнополитических конфликтов и предложены возможные пути их решения.

The thesis is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of ethnopolitical conflicts in the European Union at the present stage by the example of the Basque Country, Catalonia, Flanders and Wallonia, Scotland.The study analyses the approaches of solving ethnopolitical conflicts that apply within the EU. The goal within this master thesis is to define existing problems and possible solutions to the EU ethnopolitical conflicts. The study includes the analysis of the main concepts associated with the phenomenon of ethnopolitical conflict, the characteristic features of ethnopolitical conflicts in these regions, the estimation of the impact of EU institutions on ethno-political nationalism in the regions, identification of the modern problems of the EU in the solution of ethnopolitical conflicts and possible ways of their solution.
