Название: Assessment of the ecological status of the Central District (Saint-Petersburg) on the basis of ecophytoindication
Авторы: Ufimtseva, Margarita D.; Terekhina, Nataliya V.
Краткий осмотр (реферат): A study of the greenspace in the Central district of St.-Petersburg found the basic elements of Fe, Cr,
Ni, and Pb pollution in an association of elements isolated by factor analysis. Species-specific factors
related to the accumulation of trace elements lie in the fact that leaves and bark of lime (Tilia cordata
Mill.) have high a content of a majority of the above elements. Zn and Cd are accumulated in organs of
the poplar (Populus x berolinensis Dippel.). Ratios of the microelement content for the city/control are:
for lime leaves — Fe (9,4), Pb (5,3), Cr (4,7), Zn (4,6), Cu (4,5); for poplar leaves — Cd (6,3), Pb (5,5),
Fe (4,7), Zn (3,7), Cr (3,2); for lime bark — Cu (15,9), Fe (9,6), Pb (7,5), Cr (5,8), Ba (5,5), Ni (5,1);
for poplar bark — Cu (9,6), Fe (5,5), Pb (4,9), Ba (3,9). Analysis of summarized pollution indicators
showed that the leaves of the trees represent seasonal pollution of the urban environment and characterize
it as medium and high. The bark of the trees, however, accumulating pollutants over many years,
reflects a medium, high, and very high level of pollution in the district (for lime bark 54 % of samples
characterized a very high level of pollution). Spatial distribution of contaminants is very patchy, due to
the particulars of anthropogenic impact and the history of development in particular areas. It is noted
that plants exposed to the highest load are those on streets with heavy vehicular traffic loads. Refs 10.

Авторы: Sitkina, Dar’ya R.; Kuznetsov, Anton B.; Smirnova, Zinaida B.
Краткий осмотр (реферат): The article discusses in detail the possibility of using the Pb-Pb method to date Neoproterzoic carbonates.
The Pb-Pb method has been used to date the limestone of the Agarin-gol Formation. The
U-Pb system was studied in carbonate samples which conformed to the geochemical criteria of retention
(Mg/Ca, Mn/Sr, Fe/Sr and 87Sr/86Sr) and have undergone a step-dissolution procedure. In
206Pb/204Pb—207Pb/204Pb coordinates, the age of the Agarin-gol limestone is to 621±93 Ma, MSWD=1.3.
This age is consistent with the Ediacaran age established on the basis of the Sr isotope chemostratigraphy
(87Sr/86Sr = 0.70740–0.70748). New data allows for the specification of the sedimentation age of
carbonate sediments, which is Vendian-Cambrian stage of the Tuva-Mongolian Massif. Refs 35. Figs 7.

Авторы: Kotova, Irina K.; Kotov, Sergey R.; Kayukova, Elena P.; Mordukhai-Boltovskaya, Lyudmila V.
Краткий осмотр (реферат): Mineralogical, geochemical, and granulometric characteristics of bottom sediments of the Dead Sea
and Crimean salt lakes are analyzed to identify geological and anthropogenic aspects affecting their
composition. Regional geological conditions determine a significantly sulphate mineral-salt type and
chemical composition of peloids of Crimean salt lakes, and chloride-carbonate mineral-salt type and
chlorine-calcium composition of the Dead Sea peloids. Local geological factors influence the geochemical
and particle size characteristics of peloids: composition and geochemical specialization of
surrounding rocks provide a Cu—Rb—Zn—Mo—Ca—Cl association in peloids of the Dead Sea and
Fe—V—Mn—Co—Y—Pb association in the mud of some Crimean lakes and bedding conditions of
the mud layer affect the granulometric characteristics of peloids.
The anthropogenic impact is manifested in the characteristics of peloids in some salt lakes of the
Crimea. Extremely low contents of salts (halite) and salt-forming elements (Cl, S) in the mud of Lake
Kuchuk-Adzhigol is caused by its pollution and man-made wastewater. Coarse particle size of peloids
of Saki Lake is caused by long-term use of mud sediments. The development of an iron ore mine and
factory near Lake Tobechik led to the industrial pollution of the lake mud by arsenic, manganese and
iron. Refs 23. Figs 8. Tables 1.2017-06-01T00:00:00ZScientific works of the academician N. Ya. Ozeretskovsky as a source of information about the historic-geographical differentiation the coastal part of Ladoga lake at the turn of the 19th century

Краткий осмотр (реферат): The article analyzes the scientific works of the academician N. Ozeretskovsky. The possibility and prospects
of using his descriptions as scientific data for a multivalent assessment of the region and to study
the historic-geographical differentiation of the space of European Russia in the late 18th century are
demonstrated by example the description made in the course of his 1785 expedition. The Ladoga region
as that most comprehensively described by N. Ozeretskovsky has been selected for a solution to
this problem. The detailed analysis of the academician’s descriptions and the maps which he had at his
disposal allowed us to select eight historic-geographical districts in the Ladoga region. Refs 11. Figs 2.2017-06-01T00:00:00ZComparative characteristics of the territorial structure of Saint Petersburg and Kiev

Авторы: Gladkiy, Aleksandr V.; Olifir, Denis I.
Краткий осмотр (реферат): The article presents a comparative analysis of the territorial structure of a number of cities in the
world. It is noted that in their spatial appearance has always shown a tendency towards centralization
and sectoralized main thoroughfares, reflected in the specific elements of the territorial structure: the
kernels of urbanization, functional areas (zones), and sectors. Historically structured cities exhibit a
classical, polarized structure of six zones, each of which expresses specific features of the economy.
Here principal attention is paid to the analysis and comparative characterization structural zones in St.
Petersburg and Kiev. Within these cities highlighted structural zones are determined, their area, population,
functional planning elements and basic functions. In conclusion the author concludes that St.
Petersburg and Kyiv have common trends in the formation of spatial patterns. Refs 15. Figs 2. Tables 2.2017-06-01T00:00:00ZRelict of Meso-Archean paleosol developed on the komatiites from Koikary Area, Central Karelia

Краткий осмотр (реферат): A mineralogical and geochemical study was carried out to investigate the relict of Meso-Archean paleosol
developed on the komatiites from Koikary Area, Central Karelia. The obtained data showed that
the paleosol had the age of 3000–2930 million years and was not derived. Hugh values of CIA (91) and
Al2O3/SiO2 (0.73) parameters indicate the high extent of chemical weathering. The evolution of the
komatiite composition during weathering and the manner of REE distribution correspond to the paleosol
formation during the oxic weathering in subaerial conditions of humid and warm climate with
oxic. Refs 47. Figs 6. Tables 1.2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
