The scientific adviser’s review on the final bachelor KA. Shnaydmiller’s qualifying research "Lexico-stylistic devices of expressing evaluation in the schwanks by Russian Germans. Graduation qualification research of bachelor K.A. Sсhneidmiller is devoted to the analysis of linguistic means of expressing evaluation values in “schwanken” of Russian Germans on the example of writings of Edmund Günther, a well-known author from Russian Germans community, a member of the Writers' Union of the USSR, who worked and actively published in the 60-80's of the XX century. Work on the final qualifying research was conducted by K.A. Shnaydmiller continuously in good faith, independently and proactively with observance of the Rules of education on the basic educational programs for the bachelor's degree, specialty, Master’s programs and secondary vocational education in the St. Petersburg State University. The student presented the main results of her work in April 2017 at two academic philological conferences (one of them is an international one) in the reports on such important aspects of work as reflection of the features of intercultural communication in “schwanks” of the author and the lexico-stylistic means of expressing the evaluation in the said Material. At the International Scientific Conference "Questions of German and Roman Philology" at the Leningrad State University named after A.S. Pushkin K.A. Schneidmiller was awarded a first rank diploma for her report. The relevance and novelty of the research are determined primarily by the fact that “schwanks” of Russian Germans, and in particular Edmund Günther’s “schwanks”, have not yet become the subject of detailed linguistic analysis from the point of view of expression of estimated values, although in domestic scientific literature there are several works devoted to Analysis of development of this genre on the territory of the former USSR (E.I. Seifert, N.N. Poddubnaya, EA Chistyukhina, Y.V. Shchegolikhina). The subject of K.A. Schneidmiller’s analysis are lexical-stylistic means of expressing evaluation in Schwanken Günther’s “schwanks”, published both in books, and in newspapers and anthologies of Russian Germans’ literature. The author of the final qualifying reseach thoroughly studied the theoretical basis of the conducted research, is able to reasonably conduct a scientific discussion on the debated problems and defend her opinion. While analyzing empirical material, K.A. Schneidmiller makes independent, interesting and valid conclusions, which have both practical and theoretical significance. I would like to emphasize the fact that E. Günther’s “schwanks” were written not in literary German, but in the author’s dialect - Russian German’s dialect, which makes the research material quite difficult to study. However, K.A. Schneidmiller successfully managed this challenge, translated the “schwanks” into literary German and conducted their linguistic analysis. Logical structure of the work should be given a notice, the main provisions and conclusions of the study are evidence-based and illustrated with a variety of examples which were isolated using the method of continuous sampling from the claimed material and structured by morphological and stylistic features. The goals stated in the introduction to the work have been achieved, and specific tasks have been resolved with sufficient degree of reasoning. Results of the work’s audit for plagiarism using SafeAssign system show a hypothetically possible 18%. However, the results of our thorough manual check show that the text fragments defined by the system as possible plagiarism are not such, the citation of scientific papers and the footnotes are conducted in accordance with the norms. K.A. Schneidmiller’s graduation qualification reseach fully meets all the requirements for work of this level, can be approved for future defense and deserves a high grade.
