Scientific Supervisor's Review of Ksenia Chakirova's Bachelor's thesis “Research and computer-aided modelling of language in online role-playing games” The graduation thesis of Ksenia Chakirova is a study of mass multiplayer online games language and adaptation of the data received to the development of a chat-bot program for simulation of communication in these games. To fulfill this task Ksenia Chakirova created a language corpus of Russian and English language chats texts from three games («Perfect World», «Aion», «TERA: the Exiled realm of Arborea». Ksenia Chakirova made a review of some mass multiplayer online games and investigated conditions that influence the mechanism of a dialogue between two players. Ksenia Chakirova considered some theoretical and practical issues, connected with the creation of chat-bots. Absolutely new in he study of Ksenia Chakirova is description of features of mass online multiplayer games in lexical and syntactical aspect. Finally, Ksenia Chakirova developed her own algorithm of a dialogue between a computer and a user in a situation, which simulates a game. It is necessary to underline that Ksenia Chakirova’s study has both theoretical and practical value, as chat-bots development is one of the most prospective tasks of computational linguistics. I also want to stress that Ksenia Chakirova made absolutely independent study and demonstrated various skills of language data analysis and good practical knowledge of methods of computer analysis of natural language texts. To my opinion, Ksenia Chakirova’s research work both theoretically and practically corresponds to all requirements of graduation thesis and deserves a high grade.
