REVIEW OF THE SUPERVISOR for the final qualifying work of a student of the VI course Faculty of Medicine, St. Petersburg State University Mikhailov Dmitry Sergeevich (specialty 060101 "Medicine") on the topic "INTERMICROBIAL INTERACTIONS IN TWO-COMPONENT BIOFILM REPRESENTATIVES OF NORMOBIOTA MICROCOCCUS LUTEUS C6 AND ENTEROCOCCUS FAECIUM SF68" A 6th year student of the Faculty of Medicine of St Petersburg University Mikhailov Dmitry Sergeevich started his graduation qualification work in 2021, having shown interest in experimental microbiological work in the field of studying bacterial biofilms. In the process of performing the WRC, Mikhailov D.S. independently conducted laboratory studies of bacteria - representatives of the human normobiota, the purpose of which was to determine the mutual influence of gram-positive bacteria of micrococci and enterococci in mixed bacterial biofilms. At present, the increase in bacterial resistance to antimicrobial drugs is associated with the formation of forms of microbial communities resistant to them - biofilms. The discovery of substances that can act on bacterial biofilms, destroying them, may make it possible to influence and stop acute and chronic infectious diseases of a bacterial nature, which are difficult to treat with standard antibiotic therapy, to a greater extent. Therefore, this work devoted to the study of the effect of Micrococcus luteus C6 supernatants at concentrations of 5% and 10%, as well as the complex of Micrococcus luteus C6 supernatant with the antimicrobial drug ciprofloxacin on Enterococcus faecium SF68 biofilms in vitro, is relevant and promising for studying the overcoming of antibiotic resistance. Dmitry Sergeevich correctly formulated the goals and objectives of the study, as well as the main conclusions based on the results of the work. All the provisions and conclusions presented in the work are scientifically substantiated and convincing, logically follow from the tasks set. In addition, the analysis of literature sources with generalizations and conclusions was successfully carried out. During the experimental study Mikhailov D. S. successfully mastered the methods of work in the microbiological laboratory. At the Resource Center of St. Petersburg State University "Development of Molecular and Cellular Technologies", Dmitry Sergeevich mastered electron microscopic methods for analyzing the morphophysiological properties of bacterial cells. Mikhailov D.S. independently analyzed the changes in the structure of bacterial biofilms of enterococci under the influence of M. luteus C6 supernatants of various concentrations. He also managed to establish that the combined effect of the antimicrobial drug ciprofloxacin and the supernatant of M. luteus C6 to a greater extent disrupted the process of enterococcal biofilm formation, damaging the structure of their cells. For the period of work in 2022 and 2023. Dmitry Sergeevich participated in the International Medical and Biological Conferences "Man and Health" with oral presentations and won prizes. Research materials were published in the collections of the conference "Fundamental Science and Clinical Medicine" for 2022 and 2023, etc. The work of D.S. Mikhailov, which includes elements of preliminary ground-based experiments of the space project on the ISS RS "Biofilm", is an independent study, characterized by scientific novelty and prospects for further development. Final qualifying work Mikhailov D.S. "Intermicrobial interactions in two-component biofilms of representatives of the normobiota Micrococcus luteus C6 and Enterococcus faecium SF68" can be presented for defense and deserves a positive assessment, and the author himself - the qualification of a specialist.
