REVIEW OF THE SUPERVISOR for the thesis of a 6th year student Faculty of Medicine, St. Petersburg State University Romanov Mikhail Igorevich (specialty 060101 "Medicine") "MANIFESTATION OF THE ADAPTIVE POTENTIAL OF CANDIDA ALBICANS IN MIXED BIOFILM WITH LACTOBACTERIA ON THE BACKGROUND OF TEMPERATURE AND PH CHANGES" Microscopic fungi of the genus Candida are the most common human fungal pathogens causing infections ranging from mucous membranes to systemic infections. A feature of the biology of fungi of the genus Candida is a high ability to adapt, which allows you to move from commensal to pathogen due to the variability of morphological forms and a set of virulence factors. In particular, the ability to change morphology and form biofilms is central to the pathogenesis of Candida. Notably, Candida-formed biofilms are inherently resistant to antimicrobial therapy, so their susceptibility to current therapeutic agents remains low, demonstrating the importance of research aimed at preventing and controlling these clinically relevant microbial communities. Mikhail Igorevich correctly formulated the purpose and objectives of the study. Successfully conducted the analysis of literature sources. Independently carried out experimental research, during which he mastered classical and modern methods of working with microorganisms. The research results presented in the work are convincing, the conclusions are scientifically substantiated and logically follow from the tasks set. The advantage of the work is also its practical orientation and competent analysis of the results of its own research and data from world literature. Statistical processing of the obtained results was performed using adequate methods. During the work of Romanov M.I. proved to be a competent specialist capable of independent scientific work. During the period of completion of the final qualifying work on the materials of research, the author published 7 printed works, the results of the research were reported at 2 conferences. In the course of the work, Mikhail Igorevich demonstrated the ability to quickly master a large amount of information, a high level of knowledge, as well as the ability to independently analyze the data obtained. I believe that the final qualification work of Mikhail Igorevich Romanov is an integral completed scientific research, presented on time and meets the requirements for the structure, content, design of the WRC and can be admitted for defense.
