The work of A.S. Shchetinina is an original, relevant study in the light of the competitiveness of the destinations of the Urals. Using a geocultural approach to branding based on the history of the formation of the "mining civilization" on the territory of four regions-subjects, the author advances to the task of determining the prospects for their tourist development under the brand "Iron Belt of the Urals". The theoretical basis of the study was the analysis of the works of foreign and domestic researchers and the assessment of domestic experience. When analyzing the current tourist development of the territory of the Urals, the methods of mathematical statistics were successfully used; Although the assessment of the tourist potential of the Urals is descriptive, due to the objectives of this study, this fact does not reduce its high quality; The advantages and directions of further tourist development of the Urals under the brand "Iron Belt of the Urals" and measures to promote it are identified.
