REVIEW supervisor Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor O.V. Rybalchenko on the final qualifying work of a student of the Medical Faculty of St. Petersburg State University Netesa Maria Aleksandrovna on the topic "Analysis of the effectiveness of overcoming resistance to antimicrobial drugs in bacteria in biofilms" Maria Netesa, a 6th year student of the Faculty of Medicine of St. Petersburg State University, started her graduation qualification work in 2021, having shown interest in the work of the student scientific microbiological society. In the process of performing the WRC, M. A. Netesa conducted experimental studies aimed at determining the most effective effect of various chemicals, plant decoctions, organic acids and herbal medicines when exposed to Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria biofilm models. Currently, widespread antibiotic resistance in bacteria is a serious problem. One of the most important mechanisms in the formation of antibiotic resistance of bacteria is their ability to form special forms of microbial communities - biofilms. Identification of substances that can act directly on bacterial biofilms may help to cure acute and chronic infectious diseases of a bacterial nature that are not amenable to standard antibiotic therapy. Therefore, this work, devoted to the study of the effect of a number of antimicrobial agents on bacterial biofilms, is relevant and promising in studying the issue of overcoming antibiotic resistance. Maria Alexandrovna correctly formulated the goals and objectives of the study, as well as the main conclusions based on the results of the work. All the provisions and conclusions presented in the work are scientifically substantiated and convincing, logically follow from the tasks set. In addition, the analysis of literature sources with generalizations and conclusions was successfully carried out. During the experimental research Netesa M. A. successfully mastered the methods of work in the microbiological laboratory. At the Resource Center of St. Petersburg State University "Development of Molecular and Cellular Technologies", Maria Alexandrovna mastered electron microscopic methods for analyzing the morphological and physiological properties of bacterial cells and changing the structure of bacterial biofilms under the influence of various chemicals, plant decoctions, organic acids and herbal medicines. During the period of work, Maria Alexandrovna participated and won prizes in the conference "Man and Health" with an oral report, the materials of which were published in the collection of abstracts, and also participated in the All-Russian Congress on Medical Microbiology, Clinical Mycology and Immunology XXV "Kashkin Readings" (St. Petersburg ), published abstracts in the collection of the conference "Modern aspects of medical science of the XXI century" (Orenburg). The final qualifying work of M. A. Netes “Analysis of the effectiveness of overcoming resistance to antimicrobial drugs in bacteria in biofilms” can be submitted for defense.
