Thesis SA Marchenko devoted to the development of a synthetic scheme of   α-keto-δ-(NG,NG-dimethylguanidino)valeric acid (DMGV). In literature DMGV preparative synthesis is not described. At the same time, it samples required in the biochemical studies of nitric oxide (II) synthesis disorders. Currently DMGV only enzymatically produced in small quantities.
Using as starting compounds ornithine, Marchenko S.A. was developed and implemented 11-step synthesis. The title compound was obtained in a high purity, which was confirmed by NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and HPLC. 
Marchenko S.A. demonstrated the ability to work with polyfunctional organic compounds, their purification, including by preparative HPLC, NMR analysis and mass spectrometry. 
Marchenko S.A. demonstrated ability to work independently in the laboratory, working with scientific literature and mastered the new theoretical and practical skills. I believe that Marchenko S.A. deserves assignment chemist qualifications, and its final qualification work can be estimated on " excellent ".
