Food consumption has become an important cultural practice, with its characteristics not only at the state level but also within regions as well as cities. St. Petersburg is a special political, social, cultural and economic space with its specific food, cultural features and historical originality. The most important characteristic that distinguishes St. Petersburg from the mass of many Russian cities is its cultural capital. St. Petersburg has always stood apart, as if "outside Russia", which was due to its location on the Western border of the country, as well as positioning itself as a cultural capital. St. Petersburg can be called the gastronomic capital of Russia, at every step, even in the residential areas of the city you can find many coffee shops, cafes, restaurants, bakeries and bakeries. Residents of the city not only satisfy hunger in such institutions, but also communicate, meet, work. In this regard, the theme of the final qualifying work Kaminsky Anna Ruslanov is of great interest from both scientific and practical points of view. The reviewed work consists of introduction, three chapters, conclusion, list of references and appendixes. In the first Chapter, the author examines the main sociological approaches to the study of food practices, in the second Chapter presents a gastronomic portrait of St. Petersburg in historical retrospect, as well as the actual directions of development of food practices in our city, in the third, final Chapter presents an analysis of the economic component of the gastronomic portrait of St. Petersburg. The indisputable advantage of the work is a great historical overview of the formation of food practices in St. Petersburg and in Russia as a whole. In this section, a lot of very interesting historical facts. Also, the strong point of the work is the presence of two empirical studies: quantitative (Internet survey) and qualitative (interview). Additional analysis of the economic indicators of food consumption in St. Petersburg is very decorated work and makes it more voluminous and complete. But despite these positive qualities of work, it is not without some drawbacks, which should be noted: The results of two empirical studies that are of great interest are presented very sparingly in only three pages from 34 to 37. In the final qualifying work there is no procedural section, when getting acquainted with the study, the reader has natural questions about the sample, the method of selecting informants, the logic of selecting questions for questionnaires and interviews. Of course, the answers to these questions are presented in the research program, which is contained in the Annex, but it significantly impoverishes the work and violates its research logic. In the final qualifying work there are many stylistic errors, there are not enough logical links between paragraphs and chapters. But in General, it does not reduce the high quality of the reviewed work, it meets all the requirements for research of this type, contains an interesting theoretical and empirical material and deserves a positive assessment.
