REVIEW on final qualifying work of the student of St. Petersburg state University ZHABKO Maxim Leonidovich on the topic "the Arab-Israeli conflict in the materials of the TV channel "al-Aqsa". The relevance of the topic chosen by the bachelor is not in doubt and is due to a number of circumstances, among which stands out the ever smoldering fire of military conflicts in the region and the danger of involving leading world powers, the role and nature of the influence of the media on the armed conflict at various stages of its course. In the introduction to The work M. Zhabko gives a full picture of the degree of development of the topic, which allows the author to analyze the most qualitative empirical material. The story of the introduction usually rarely the authors of undergraduate and graduate qualification works. Plunging into the object of the study, the author identifies as the subject of the Arab-Israeli conflict in the materials of the TV channel "al-Aqsa “from the section” Zionist Affairs “in the period from July 14, 2017 to December 6, 2017. The purpose of the study, the author identified the features of coverage of the Arab-Israeli conflict in the materials of the TV channel” al-Aqsa" and focuses its efforts on solving clearly formulated tasks: to provide an overview of the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict and Hamas; describe the features of the functioning of the Palestinian media in the context of the Arab media landscape; to reveal the characteristic features in the coverage of the Arab-Israeli conflict in the materials of the al-Aqsa TV channel. Although the author of WRC and did not reflect the entire list of the proposed subjects of the introduction (you can say that for bachelor's work he has enough), it should be noted the quality of this part of the work: clarity, conciseness, objectivity. You can, of course, argue about the subject of research. Its wording does not accurately reflect what is considered in the work itself - "the Arab-Israeli conflict in the materials of the TV channel "al-Aqsa" from the section "Zionist Affairs" the Conflict is the subject of study of political science, or conflictology. The work has a very concise and strict and logical plan: the first Chapter, consisting of three paragraphs and the second, without division into subsections or paragraphs. However, the plan raises some questions for discussion. For example, does the author consider it correct in his graduate work devoted to journalism to avoid presenting views, concepts, theories, devoted to the media, mass communication, the role of the information component in the armed conflict? And the question on the wording of the second Chapter – "the Display of the Arab-Israeli conflict in the materials of the TV channel "al - Aqsa". First, it is essentially a repeat of the title of the entire work. And, secondly, yet in this case, the verb "reflection" does not give an idea of what and how will be analyzed. The hint is given by one of the research tasks: "to Reveal the characteristic features in the coverage of the Arab-Israeli conflict in the materials of the al-Aqsa TV channel "(p.11). But these reflections are related to the title part of the work. In General, the structure of the WRC is justified by the objectives of the study. The first Chapter is of theoretical and historical character. It presents the historical and political conditions, the factors of conflict, the formation and development of the media in the service of Hamas. Zhabko uses many different sources in Russian, English, Arabic. Therefore, the material is full of specifics, arguments, references to authoritative works of scientists and politicians. The author does not just use the finished material, he adapts it to the topic, makes his own judgment. But, as in any case, violation of the measure leads to a change in quality and the transition to the opposite. In our opinion, Maxim somewhat "abuses" citation. For example, on pp. 53-54 job references Abdelal. Hamas and the Media. Politics and Strategy. New York: Routledge, 2016 - 9 times. On three pages (p. 11-13) seven times quoted the work of A History of the Modern Middle East, and only in the first paragraph of the first Chapter of this work the author refers 30 times. The above does not question the authorship of the work, but the measure still needs to be observed. From a purely formal point of view, it can be noted that the author makes a generalization only in the third paragraph, but there are no generalizing conclusions on the first Chapter. In the second Chapter, when analyzing the conflict reflection in the materials of the al-Aqsa TV channel, the author rightly expands the field of research due to the fact that any news devoted to Israel is somehow connected with the struggle against the Jewish state: "...therefore, analyzing the Arab-Israeli conflict, we will not limit ourselves to texts devoted directly to military clashes or terrorist attacks." (p.58). As a time frame for the study, Zhabko chooses two crisis points of the conflict: 1) on July 14, 2017, a Palestinian terrorist killed two Israeli police officers with a knife on the Temple mount in Jerusalem. The Israeli authorities decided to install metal detectors at the entrance to the mountain, which caused violent protests of the Palestinians and led to clashes with the police; 2) on December 6, 2017, Donald trump said that the US recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and will transfer its Embassy from tel Aviv there. For analysis, the author chooses texts 112, 122 notes, theme, dividing the texts into several groups. The analysis allowed the author to come to the appropriate generalizations at the end of the Chapter. The author's use of the original material and its translation into Russian is a very positive development. And if according to the results of the first Chapter, we noted excessive citation, then in the empirical part it is welcome, because it helps the author to be specific and objective in the analysis. By the way, a large number of page footnotes in the analysis of the empiric removes claims against the author in connection with several exceeded the amount of work. Summing up the review, it can be noted that, despite the criticisms, stated in the title of the topic is disclosed in full. The WRC content corresponds to the topic stated in the title. The author of WRC reflected actual problems of theoretical and practical character. The work is written independently. The author has demonstrated a good ability to creative, analytical work, the ability to explore the mass media product, to reveal the actual problems of theoretical and practical nature. On the basis of the review it can be concluded that the final qualifying work "Arab-Israeli conflict in the materials of the TV channel "al-Aqsa" meets the requirements for this type of work, and its author Zhabko Maxim Andreevich deserves a positive assessment.
