Review for graduate qualification paper of the bachelor of the Philological Faculty of St. Petersburg State University by Elizaveta Andreevna Sashchenko on the topic "Means of expressing the evaluation in the responses to the product (on the material of the journal" Test ")" Sashchenko E.A. worked on the writing of the GQP "Means of expressing the evaluation in the responses to the product (on the material of the journal" Test ")" under the guidance of PhD. Lilia Birr-Tsurkan in the educational program "Foreign languages", on the profile "German language" at the Philological faculty of St. Petersburg State University. Graduation qualification paper of the bachelor Sashchenko is devoted to the study of lexical and grammatical means of expressing language evaluation in German, components of the evaluation structure and analysis of classifications of estimated values. The content of the work corresponds to the theme stated in the title. The subject declared in the title is disclosed: the means for evaluating the goods are described and studied. The selected topic is a new one, because the study of the creation of the valuation of goods was conducted in terms of constructing a semantic structure in describing the result of a professional and independent examination, taking into account the interests of the potential consumer. The material was provided by 205 text extracts from the special articles of the magazine "Test" on food, cosmetics and equipment published by the professional community "Stiftung Warentest". Conducted by Saschenko, the study has a structure justified by its objectives: namely, the first chapter "The concept of linguistic evaluation" provides an overview of linguistic approaches to the concept of evaluation as a type of modality that is superimposed on the descriptive content of linguistic expression. Such important aspects for disclosing the topic as components and classification of language assessment are given. Chapter 2 "Means of language expression evaluation" is a narrowly focused version of the analysis of lexical and grammatical means of expression of different types of evaluation: positive and negative, complete and comparative, general and private, and contributes to the study of the axiological aspect of the utterance. The author considers morphological means, namely parts of speech in their possibilities of expression of evaluation. The significant role of expressive syntax in enhancing the value of the value of the used vocabulary, such as ellipsis, question-answer unity, emphasis, is noted, and this compilation helps the researcher to compile the most complete picture of the features of the expression of the axiological aspect. The presentation is illustrated by examples that clearly demonstrate the results of theoretical research conducted within the framework of the writing of the work. The analysis of the examples, however, is often done on repetitive passages that represent the types of assessment, which does not always seem to be justified. Nevertheless, the theoretical and practical chapters logically complement each other. The scientific value and theoretical significance of this paper are an attempt to create its own structural and semantic classification of evaluation tools. Sashchenko demonstrates knowledge of the theoretical foundations of linguistics, lexicology and primary semantic analysis. Thus, actual problems of a theoretical nature, devoted to the analysis of the construction, functioning and perception of verbal means of a different type of evaluation in the "discourse of the consumer society", are reflected in the GQP. In this discourse, the evaluation is designed to serve the customer as an argument and a guide, with the possibility of a wide choice of goods from different producers, and the language tools of evaluation are certainly primary in the creation of such arguments. GQP used modern literature, for example, works on the axiology of Zhanna Nikonova, Nina D. Arutiunova, Monika Schwarz-Friesel, we note that the bibliography successfully contains the names of sources that cover different aspects of the assessment analysis, in total 41 sources, including dictionaries. The goals set by the researcher have been achieved, specific tasks have received a reasoned solution. In the GQP there is a detailed justification of the conclusions: in the texts of the articles of the magazine "Test" analyzing the merits and demerits of goods, a significant predominance of designs with a positive estimated value twice exceeding the number of negative-evaluation constructions is established. Sashchenko argues that the evaluation expresses the relationship, on this basis the assessment can be considered one of the types of modality. In general, graduating qualification paper of the bachelor Sashchenko EA. produces a positive impression of completed and independent research, the style of presentation corresponds to the style of academic writings. A quantitatively estimated ratio of text matches to sources, whose authorship is established 28% (the result of the test in the module Safe Assign, Black Board, www.spbu.ru). The detected coincidences do not have the character of undue borrowing. To work there are several questions and one remark: 1) In the title of the paper, in the title of chapters, in the table of contents there is no "German" component, thus, accessibility to readers in terms of the choice of language material is not obvious. What is the reason for it? 2) The interpretation of individual examples puts questions: Example 39, p.43 Das riesige iPhone 6s Plus ist das beste, mit 845 Euro aber auch das teuerste neue Smartphone. A controversial assertion is that the adjective teuerste is an expression of a negative evaluation, rather it is its use in a syntactic adversative construction with the aber auch junction. In the treatment of the axiological aspect, one must take into account not only semantics, but also use. What prevented the author from building an analysis in this paradigm? 3) The examples on pages 34-46 repeat the examples on pages 51-53, 64-67. This are examples with the verbs empfehlen, enttäuschen, gelingen, begeistern, examples with the nouns Vorteil, Mangel and Fehler, the same examples illustrate different types of evaluation namely negative, positive, absolute, private. Is there a difference in the use of these tokens in creating an evaluation type? 4) Note: the example of Perlen gefunden (100) applied to smartphones, illustrating in paper different types of evaluation using lexical and grammatical tools, unfortunately, is not understandable without context (the context is not given). The author's reasoning is not very convincing, that in the example, the elliptical structure in the prolapse of the verb sein sheaf strengthens the estimated value. (If this is a lead to an article, then its elliptic structure is important as a means of attracting the reader, but not as an expression of an estimate). These questions and comments do not contain criticism of the paper, rather, they should serve as an invitation for discussion. Graduation qualification paper by Sashchenko "Means of expressing the evaluation in the responses to the product (on the material of the journal" Test ")" meets the requirements for the final qualification paper of the bachelor at the department of German philology of St. Petersburg State University and deserves high evaluation. 24.05.2018 Reviewer: Manerova K.V.
