Reference of supervisor on qualification work of Alexey Fomin “A study of cells with anti-relaxation coating” The work deals with determination of parameters of intrinsic buffer gas into coated cell with rubidium vapor. The buffer gas arises from reaction between the coating material and alkali metal atoms. The method of the study is based on velocity-selective optical pumping of rubidium atoms and a record of time evolution of kinetics of their escape from the shined small volume towards the cell walls. The work had three tasks: 1. Make the method theoretical model clear. 2. Cunduct numerical experiment. 3. Assemble of experimental setup. Alexey fulfilled all three tasks. Alexey Fomin revealed himself as creative self-consistent researcher with good background and high skills. I hope, I’ll have pleasure to continue our investigation, when Alexey become a muster student.
