Comment of the research adviser associate professor Kharatishvili G.S. on the graduate qualification research work of bachelor of Mirzoev I.H. «The history of the Kartid kingdom of Herat (1245–1381): Evidence from the "Tarikh Nama-i Herat" by Saifi Herawi». Mirzoev I.H. graduate qualification research work of bachelor deals with the history of the Kart dynasty (1245-1381) and is based on the work of historiographer Saifi Herawi (born 1282) the "Tarikh Nama-i Herat". The student recounts and analyzes the evidence of this historical work chapters covering the period from the Mongol invasion in the Eastern Khorasan up to the first half of Shams ad-Din Kart (1245-1278) rule. The research work consists of Introduction, three Chapters, Conclusion, Reference List and Appendix (p. 51). In the Introduction student reviews the features of this historical period in a concise way and accounts the biography and works of Saifi Herawi. Also there is a short description of the "Tarikh Nama-i Herat" and the list of researchers whose works were dedicated to this subject and used by the student in his graduate work – first and utmost among them are Muhammad Zubair as-Siddiqi, Ilya Pavlovich Petrushevskiy and Gholamreza Tabatabaii Majd. The researcher sets objectives – to give a detailed account of the history of Heart during and after the Mongol Invasion in Eastern Khorasan up to the Kart dynasty rise to power and their incorporation in Ilkhanid state. The relevance of the research is attributed to the scarceness of extensive works dedicated to this period of history. In three Chapters the author meticulously reviews the process and features of the Mongol Invasion in Eastern Khorasan, portrays its terrifying aftermath with the view of Heart and adjacent territories. Much attention is given to the process of recovery and reconstruction of Heart and its province, the history of region’s development during this period. Student provides insight into the political struggle among the local factions and their relations with Mongol rulers. Mirzoev I.H. in details recounts the history of foundation of Kartid state and the first half of the Shams ad-Din Kart rule, his endless feuds with disobedient liege subjects. In the Conclusion student sums up the obtained information, gives a list of names and chronology of the Heart rulers and analyzes the policies of the Herati elites and Shams ad-Din Kart. The author also evaluates the "Tarikh Nama-i Herat" and Saifi Herawi as a credible historical source. The research is based mainly on Tarikh Nama-i Herat" in Farsi and in large part on a solid scientific background of works in Russian and English (19 titles).  The student have gone to considerable lengths. I agree with the provided conclusions and recommend to continue this research later in Master’s degree course. Mirzoev I.H. qualification research work of bachelor is eligible to the required criteria and is worth of high grade.
